DISCORD GUIDE
Creating a Discord Account

So you’ve been accepted into MCU! Congratulations! However, now you need to learn how to be able to use discord to communicate with the team. First off, you need to create a Discord Account. If you already have one, you may skip this step and move on to the next one. Getting a discord account is a fairly easy process and can be done in minutes.

First you need to go to https://discordapp.com/login. You would then need to click [http://imgur.com/gallery/fjMUo] and follow the directions told.

Downloading Discord

Now that you have gotten a Discord Account, you need to be able to get discord. There are two ways you can get it.
The first way is to go to the website, once your account has been created. You would need to sign in by going to https://discordapp.com/login. Once done this, you have successfully signed into discord and can go to the next step.

The alternative to that is downloading the actual application on your desktop, iPad, or phone. You would go to https://discordapp.com/download. If you have a Windows 7 or higher computer you would click [http://imgur.com/gallery/tBZSf]. If you would like to download discord on your Mac, Android, or IOS you would click whichever one of [http://imgur.com/gallery/Sfz2h] downloads you need. You get to these 3 downloads by scrolling down on the https://discordapp.com/download page. Once done this, you have successfully downloaded and signed into discord. You can now move on to the next step.

How to Chat on Discord

In this section, we'll be explaining how to use the chats in discord to be able to type to us. Yes, everything may be confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s really easy!

When you login, [http://imgur.com/a/G8nhq] is the screen you will see. The little type box at the bottom middle is where you would type. It is circled in [http://imgur.com/a/G8nhq] image. That’s really all you need to know besides the emoji button which is shown in [http://imgur.com/a/c6PLU] picture.

How to Verbally Speak

The circled item in the picture shown [http://imgur.com/a/SK3kS] is the voice channels. Underneath that is where you would join voice calls and such. To join one all you need to do is click on the name of the voice channel.

In addition to just joining, you can mute yourself and deafen, which means it closes all audio coming from the voice channel. The options for that are located [http://imgur.com/a/bXfP7]. To mute yourself, you would just need to click the mic and make sure it has a little red line across it like in the picture. To deafen it would be the same. Just make sure the headphones next to the mic have a red line across them.
A red line means that it is active. (Red line across the mic means the mic is muted. Red line across the headphones means you are deafened.) Without the red line, it means that it’s on. (No red line on the mic means whoever is in the same voice channel can hear you. No red line on the headphones means that you can hear anyone talking in the same voice channel.)

Additional Information

Now that you have the basics all down, all you need to know is one little additional thing, the settings. It’s located to the right of the deafen symbol. When clicked, you are given tons of options. Go explore!
If you have any additional questions or concerns, the Leadership team would be happy to help you.
